
Thousands of Russian citizens moved to Buenos Aires in 2023 as a result of the war in Ukraine. Among them are pregnant women seeking to give birth and secure Argentine citizenship, men avoiding conscription, LGBT people seeking the freedom to live openly, and a professional choir building a life far from home. As they settle into exile, they embrace Argentina’s tolerance, human rights, and free healthcare and education. But Javier Milei’s election casts uncertainty over their future and that of the country.
