A City Symphony

A City Symphony

53 min

The film takes us on a brief journey across the skies of Damascus, passing over the communities that have arrived in the Levant with all their cultural and civilizational characteristics, to immerse ourselves in their daily life, their homes, and their customs. We wonder: what remains of their original form, and what has been lost? And most importantly: What drives each of these relatively homogeneous groups to board the first bus bound for “Damascus”? What can Damascus offer that no other village or city within Syria can provide? And has Damascus fulfilled the dreams they brought with them? What is the common perspective shared by most of the arriving regions regarding Damascus and the original “village” model, and what does the idea of returning to it mean to each of these groups?
