Gonzalo Benavente Secco is a writer and director of film, theater, and television. His film "The Revolution and the Land" (2019) became the most-watched documentary in Peruvian cinema history, with 90,000 viewers (20 theaters). It was selected for the official competition at numerous international film festivals and won the 2019 APRECI Award for Best Documentary, among other accolades. In 2021, Penguin Random House published a memoir about the film's social and cultural impact ("The Imagined Revolution").
