Fernando Carasa

Fernando Carasa Minguito is a historian, anthropologist, activist, content creator and film disseminator from Burgos, Spain. Also known as "El Feo" (The Ugly), he is mostly popular for his YouTube channel "La Filmoteca Maldita", in which he talks about cinema from a social perspective and displeased with the current copyright system. Likewise, Carasa organizes an independent short film festival every year since 2019 in which his community from all over the Spanish-speaking territory participates. He is currently facing legal proceedings centered on allegations of copyright infringement under the online pseudonym "Zoowoman." The case was brought forward by EGEDA and producer/businessman Enrique Cerezo, who argues, among other claims, that his activities constitute unfair competition against the business model embodied by his streaming platform FlixOlé. The case is still ongoing and has sparked significant public support on social media for reforming copyright laws in favor of the free dissemination of audiovisual culture.
