Shinji Nishijima

Nishijima Shinji is a graduate of Waseda University. Nishijima joined the RKB Mainichi Broadcasting Corporation in 1981, and served as a correspondent in Seoul, Korea, from 1991 to 1994. Later, he transferred to the Production Division, where he produced several television programs focusing on the war, including Kota Bharu: The Untold War (2011) and Foujita: Why did the artist paint the War? (2014). He directed his first documentary film, Resistance - The Old Writer Hayashi Eidai (2017), which centers on Mr. Eidai Hayashi, a writer who dedicated his career to documenting the forced labor of Korean migrants in Japan. In 2019, the director established a production company, ′Document Asia,′ and completed his second documentary film, TARGET (2021).
