Hansel Porras Garcia

Hansel Porras Garcia (all pronouns) is a queer artist and filmmaker born in Cuba and based in Miami. Hansel’s work is marked by an intimate gaze into Miami’s Hispanic multiculturalism, with a particular focus on the Cuban diaspora. Their projects explore themes of identity, family, migration, and affective memory, crafting narratives that engage both personal experience and the tensions and beauty of life between islands, cities, and borders. In addition to their creative practice, they manage the Cinematic Residency at Oolite Arts where they mentor, support, and nurture emerging filmmakers within a diverse and ever-evolving community.
