Sophia Abolfathi is an Emmy®-winning documentary filmmaker based in Florida. Her storytelling intimately unveils human histories, families, and memories. Her debut short documentary, A Seat at the Table (2023), screened at numerous film festivals nationwide and was honored with the Grand Jury Award for Student Film (AFF '24), Best Civic Story (BCFF '24), and Best Collegiate Documentary (OBFF '24). Sophia has produced and directed films including March of the Mangroves (Suncoast Emmy’s Topical Documentary ‘24; BCFF Best Student Film ‘24) and Sunflower (2025).
