Delma Rosa Gómez

Gómez was refused cancer treatment in February 2010 when she was ten weeks pregnant due to the 2006 Nicaraguan law forbidding all forms of abortion. Known as under the pseudonym of Amalia, feminist groups and medical associations fought for her to receive proper care. Despite international protests, she continued to not receive treatment until her eighth month of pregnancy. She gave birth to a still born child, and died shortly afterwards.
