Mahiara Sáenz Piña

Mahiara Meret Sáenz Piña (2003, Santiago, Chile) is an emerging filmmaker, screenwriter, and researcher. Her contemporary work explores the intersections of trauma, territory, memory, and the female experience, blending auteur cinema and political thought with atmospheric elements of magical realism and the fantastic. She has written, produced, and directed several academic short films and experimental pieces focused on memory, the body, and social marginality. Currently, her debut feature film in development, La Lengua de la Pampa, features a completed screenplay and was selected for JIIFF Generación J 2026, an instance where she represented Cinema Chile and earned a full scholarship for a Screenwriting Workshop at the New York Film Academy.
