Aya Elhussieny
Aya is a Visual Artist and Director based in Cairo. Her practice explores storytelling through video and photography, often reflecting on identity, memory, and the everyday. Her work has been exhibited in both local and international exhibitions. She began her career in 2014 as a video journalist while studying Radio and TV Production at Cairo University, using the camera as a means to express her unique perspective on the world. Over time, her work evolved into documentary filmmaking and directing. Aya is currently a Video Producer and Editor at Womena , where she creates visual stories that highlight women’s voices and contemporary social themes. Alongside her professional work, she continues to develop her independent art and film projects. Her short film “Every Two Weeks”, which she wrote and directed, has won multiple awards and been screened at film festivals around the world. Aya is Currently working on her second short film, as well as developing a feature documentary and developing her own personal practice.
