In una cittadina danese un giudice vede sua figlia illegittima affrontare un processo per l'omicidio di suo figlio appena nato. Era rimasta incinta di un uomo aristocratico che pero' non ha voluto sposarla. Come teme il giudice, la ragazza viene condannata, quindi decide di liberarla e farla uscire dal paese a tutti i costi.
