Susan Danford is a Johannesburg-born actor and voice artist celebrating a 30-year career, working both internationally and in South Africa in Film, Television and Theatre. She has been recognised with 9 nominations and 3 acting award wins, in leading and supporting roles, ranging from comedy to drama. Most recently Susan was directed by Sir Ridley Scott, (Blade Runner, Gladiator) on 2020’s acclaimed sci-fi series, Raised by Wolves (HBO Max) with the second season slated to start filming in early 2021. 2020 also saw Susan as Trish Williams in the celebrated series, Still Breathing (bbzeefilms/Mnet/Showmax). Feature film highlights include Invictus directed by Clint Eastwood; Friend Request; The Salvation, starring Madds Mikkleson, with series highlights including Tutankhamun (with Sam Neill), Known Gods, League of Glory, Meester, The Color of Friendship, Vagrant Queen, and Deutschland ‘89. Her notable theatre work began with her award-winning debut role as Rosasharn in Steinbeck’s, The Grapes of Wrath; Juliet in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Abigail in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. More recent theatre highlights include her Best Actress nominated performance as Anna, opposite John Kani (Black Panther) in his play Missing, for The Baxter and Market Theatres; playing Sylvia Gellburg, opposite Sir Antony Sher in Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass for The Fugard Theatre, for which she also received a Best Actress nomination, and Emma in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, directed by Lara Foot, for which she won the Fleur Du Cap Best Actress Award.
