Joan Newell (19 February 1915 – 1 November 2012) was a British actress whose career spanned more than four decades across television, film, and stage. Best known for her extensive work on British television, she appeared in popular series including The Doctors, Owen, M.D., Dixon of Dock Green, Steptoe and Son, The Saint, and Terry and June. Her film credits include Jigsaw (1962), Stolen Hours (1963), and Keep It Up Downstairs (1976). A familiar character actress, Newell remained a regular presence on British screens until her retirement in the late 1980s.
