Alan Clarke

Alan John Clarke (28 October 1935 – 24 July 1990) was an English television and film director, producer and writer. Clarke primarily worked for TV, writing and directing plays for Rediffusion, LWT, and the BBC. On film, he made only three features, the best known of which is the 1979 youth prison drama Scum, in fact an expansion of a Play for Today production.
