Amanda Abbington wurde am 28. Februar 1974 in Nordlondon, England, als Amanda Jane Smith geboren. Seit 1993 ist sie als Schauspielerin in Fernseh-, Film- und Theaterproduktionen tätig. Ihr Debüt gab sie mit einer kleinen Rolle in der britischen Polizeiserie „The Bill“. Amanda hat zwei Kinder mit ihrem Ex-Partner Martin Freeman.
